Being depressed is a crime
Being depressed apparently can get you time in jail. OK, that's an exaggeration, but not by much. In the news via CrimLaw is a story of a woman in Colorado who was convicted of having possession of a controlled substance. She had Buspirone, aka Buspar, a prescription antidepressant. It is not a controlled substance under state law. The police said it was a controlled substance, so the judge, the district attorney, and assistant public defender, all went along, and the "criminal" pled guilty. I'm not sure who to blame, though my biased bleeding-heart liberal opinions are towards the prosecutor, for charging people without caring if they committed a crime or not. Well, I'm going to swallow these Sudafed and Tylenol while I can still can.
